Broadcaster & Megatrends Expert
Leo Johnson co-presents Radio 4’s flagship series FutureProofing, exploring the big ideas and innovations shaping business and society from the blockchain's impact on financial services to revolutions in robotics, energy and transport.
"What can't go on", as Richard Nixon's advisor once put it, "must stop." Leo specialises in mapping out unexploded volcanoes – charting the sector-specific collisions of megatrends that are set to create seismic disruption.
After Oxford and INSEAD, Leo joined the World Bank before co-founding the boutique advisory firm Sustainable Finance, since acquired by PwC Group. He is now a Visiting Business Fellow at Oxford University's Smith School of Enterprise & the Environment, a judge on the Financial Times’ Boldness in Business awards, and a regular presenter for BBC World News. TV credits include Changing the Rules, Down to Business, One Square Mile and World Challenge.
Leo is is an occasional commentator for the Financial Times, New Statesman, Evening Standard and Wall Street Journal. He also co-authored Turnaround Challenge: Business & the City of the Future. But he is most proud of founding Unthinkable Drinkable Brent, the urban wine co-operative, a bottle of whose NW6 local red the Archbishop of Canterbury has stored in the cellars of Lambeth Palace, reserved, allegedly, for unrepentant sinners.
